Ice climbing – Introductory course safety and basic technique

 

Time and place of attendance: Saturday 20.01.18 at 08:00 - 17:00. Attendance v/ Rana special sport in our new premises in Ranheimgata 8.

 Price: NOK 950  per person

 Course content: 

• Equipment for use on ice and its adaptation.

• Climbing technique with crampons and ax

• Top rope climbing

• The consequences of temperature and weather conditions for the ice's properties

• Ice screws and top rope placement

 

What prior knowledge is required?

• Operation of the safety brake

• Indoor or outdoor climbing experience is an advantage

 

We provide climbing equipment such as  ropes, crampons, helmets, axes and harnesses.

We start the course by talking a little about equipment, selection and adjustment.
We then head out into the terrain and climb. The choice of climbing area is made closer to the course date based on temperature, availability, weather and snow/ice conditions.

 

Weather condition.

If the conditions are too bad to complete the course, the course will be moved to another date. Registered participants will receive information via email or phone.
