Helgeland paddling symposium 2019.
Date: 10.05.19- 12.05.19
Place: Tonnes, Norway
Welcome to the Helgeland paddling symposium 10-12 May at Tonnes
Helgeland paddling symposium is by far Helgeland's largest multi-day paddling gathering. Here, those interested in kayaking can challenge themselves through courses, competitions and other experiences linked to the weekend. Others enjoy pleasant trips, social fellowship and picturesque surroundings on and near the Arctic Circle. An absolutely perfect weekend for paddling and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and at all levels!
We have put together a varied program and will focus on safety, good seamanship and PADDLING in all forms and shapes. We run courses at the basic level (16 hours on Saturday and Sunday) for those who have taken nothing or an intro course before, technique courses (16 hours for those who have a basic course and who want to become a better sea paddler), Our best and most thorough technique course ever).
For those of you who have already taken a basic course, but who only want nice trips together with other people who enjoy paddling in safe surroundings and with a locally known guide, this is entirely possible. Several trips are planned during the weekend. Information about these can be found under 'programme'.
Accommodation
Our base camp will be near Oscarbrygga . Here there are several accommodation options to choose from. You can see a description of all the options at oscarbrygga.no. There you will also find contact information and can book accommodation.
Meals
Good food and replenishing energy are important during the paddling symposium. We can guarantee that you will be hungry!
The meals are carried out in our base camp, everyone provides their own food. We provide a barbecue, coffee, hot water/juice and a good atmosphere. There is a shop in the immediate vicinity for those who wish to buy food for the meals, but we recommend that this is done in advance.
"After-paddling" and other social activities
We will facilitate coziness and togetherness throughout the event. If we are rewarded with good weather, we find something outdoors. If we get stormy weather, it might be good to move indoors. It will be a good atmosphere anyway!
Nice to take with you
It is important that we dress according to the temperature of the water and not the temperature of the air. Those of you who are on the course will be in the water quite a bit, and at this time of year it can be good to have two layers under your drysuit, preferably wool underwear and an intermediate layer of thicker wool or thin fleece. On the legs, thin woolen socks are good under the dry suit.
In addition, it is important to have:
-
A change of clothes and preferably a towel in case you get wet
-
Warm jacket to use during breaks if the air is cold
-
Hot and cold drinks
-
Hat and warm gloves
-
Good with food and energizing snacks
-
Waterproof bags for what you want to bring with you in the kayak
If you do not rent equipment from us, bring: Kayak, oar, dry suit, shoes, splash cover, vest, hood, gloves.
